Brian Reed

Brian Reed

Brian hails from a rugby mad village in the Scottish Borders and his childhood ambition was to pull on the navy blue jersey and run out at Murrayfield in front of a packed stadium but sadly a lack of ability and a nasty knee injury wrecked all hopes he had. Brian then decided to follow in a long family line of vets and eventually graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2003. Brian first worked for his father in Scotland for a few weeks and then ventured further afield and ended up in a large mixed practice in Teeside working on the large animal side of the practice. During this time he developed an interest in horse work – particularly stud work, anaesthesia and diagnostic imaging. After nearly 5 years in Teeside Brian decided a move was needed and he came to Rainbow in June 2008.

During his time at Rainbow he has further pursued his interests in stud work and diagnostic imaging, particularly ultrasonography. In September 2010 Brian achieved the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Certificate in Equine Practice by passing a range of assessed work, written and practical examinations.

Brian is most often found out on yards and enjoys the wide range of cases and clients he encounters on his rounds. Outside of work Brian enjoys Scuba diving and he can often be found walking or running in the North Yorkshire Moors with his black lab “Noosa”- sore knee permitting!
